Back To The Future Filming Location in Chino: Chino and The Hills Secrets Exposed

by Thomas Ryan

Back To The Future Filming Location: Chino, CA Did you know Chino was a filming location for one of the most iconic films in American history? That’s right, one remote site in Chino was featured in the hit movie Back to The Future. Back to the future released in 1985. It is about a young man named Marty McFly who accidentally travels into the past and jeopardizes his own future existence. Marty was played by legendary actor Michael J. Fox. The film site sits right behind me. Located on Cucamonga Ave. about 1.5 miles south of Pine Ave and just past the California Institute For Women on a desolate dirt road was the site of Marty’s “future” neighborhood, Lyon Estates. The future housing development was advertised on a billboard promising the opportunity to "LIVE IN THE HOME OF TOMORROW... Today!" The billboard portrayed a house resembling the house the McFlys would live in 30 years later. The land still sits relatively untouched from what it looked like in the 1985 film, without the Lyon Estate entry gates, and billboard with hidden Delorian behind it of course. I don’t know about you but I think it is pretty cool to see a piece of Chino on the silver screen in such an iconic film. Do you know of any other movies or tv shows that were filmed in Chino or Chino Hills? Let me know.
