Chino Old Schoolhouse Museum: Chino and The Hills Secrets Exposed

The Old Schoolhouse Museum in Chino has a rich history dating back to 1888, when it was first constructed on 5th and D Streets. After being relocated several times, the museum now resides on 11th and B St, and was presented to the City of Chino by the Chino Valley Historical Society in 2013. Since then, the City has undertaken extensive efforts to preserve and refurbish the museum's interior, culminating in its reopening on May 14, 2016, dedicated to the memory of Ms. Phyllis Outhier. Inside the museum, visitors will feel transported back in time as they step into the original classroom, complete with antique desks, chalkboards, and other artifacts from the era. The museum features a range of exhibits showcasing Chino's agricultural roots and its founding by Richard Gird. Visitors can view vintage farm equipment, historic photographs, and personal stories of Chino residents throughout the years. Outside, visitors can catch a glimpse of the future site of a brand new barn, which will soon house additional larger farming equipment. Thank you for visiting the Old Schoolhouse Museum and we hope that your journey back in time has given you a greater appreciation for the fascinating history of Chino.
