Chino Spirit of Achievement Award: Chino and The Hills Secrets Exposed

Welcome to Chino and The Hills, Secrets Exposed. Hi I’m Thomas Ryan. If you’re like me, you have driven past this statue countless times and wondered what it represents. Well today, I am going to share with you why this statue is here and the important significance it has to the people of Chino. This is the Spirit of Achievement statue, located at the intersection of Central Ave and D street in the heat of the city. It was installed here in 2007 and since that date the city has awarded the Spirit of Achievement award annually to individuals and in many cases couples that embody Chino’s Spirit of Achievement. The award is bestowed by the mayor to someone who personifies the city’s values and exemplifies its strong family ties, close knit community, patriotism, faith, and commitment to volunteerism and public service. The statue sits on top of a colonnade engraved with the names of the honorees. You can see those 16 deserving recipients names here. The next time you are in the area, safely make your way to view this statue and be inspired by those Chino residents who have lent their time, energy and effort to give back to this great city.
